NFL and Referees Union Near New Deal

Negotiations between the NFL and the NFL Referees Association have progressed to a point where a ratification vote is planned this week, avoiding a potential lockout.

After months of stalled talks, the NFL and its officials are close to a new collective bargaining agreement. The NFL Referees Association will hold a ratification vote this week, preventing a work stoppage as the current deal expires on May 31.

The league has raised its offer to a 6.45% annual pay rise over six years, while the union seeks 10% plus $2.5 million in marketing fees. Both sides remain committed to a fair compromise. afrikasportnews.co.za
