Yamal Could Be Ready for Spain's World Cup Opener

Spain's Lamine Yamal may be fit to play against Cape Verde in the World Cup opener on June 15 despite his hamstring injury, according to national team coach Luis de la Fuente.

Spain's national team coach Luis de la Fuente confirmed on Wednesday that the 18-year-old star is nearly recovered from the hamstring injury sustained while taking a penalty for Barcelona on April 22. Yamal had expressed fears about missing the tournament but De la Fuente believes he could be ready for the opening match against Cape Verde.

"If nothing changes, he could be ready to play against Cape Verde. It doesn't mean he will definitely play. Maybe it will be a few minutes, maybe just training to get match fit for the next game. We will have to assess it continuously," said De la Fuente. saltysenoritaaz.org
