Oberstdorf Chosen for Ski World Championship 2031

The International Ski Federation (FIS) has selected German Oberstdorf as host for the 2031 Ski World Championship, defeating Slovenia's Planica in the bid.

Oberstdorf received 16 votes compared to Planica's six votes in the selection process, as announced by FIS in a press release. FIS President Alexander Ospelt praised Oberstdorf's "impressive bid from one of the most iconic places for Nordic skiing in the world."

The German venue has previously hosted the Ski World Championship three times, with the last being in 2021 when Norway claimed 13 gold, 11 silver, and 7 bronze medals. Trondheim served as host for the 2025 championship. librea.one
